Lyrics

The path that I’ve been traveling
Brought me to this moment and this place;
And my perilous diversions
Have etched the scars of age across my face.

In searching for the answers, many times I found I’d lost my way;
And I realized my purpose and my place are simply not the same.

I see that you’re a traveler
By the weary dust that’s clinging to your shoes;
And, though I don’t yet know you,
I sense that you have sung your share of blues.

My prayer for you, my friend, is for peace to fill your spirit with good health.
So, let’s set aside our worries for a while and hearten one another for a spell.

Let’s follow the river where the peaceful waters flow –
We’ll walk the banks together and let the river lead us home.

Before tomorrow’s sun’s arising
Let’s put our animosities to bed;
And if there are words not worth hearing,
We’re better off to leave those words unsaid.

Please forgive me stranger for all those times I’ve stumbled to the ground.
I’ll return the favor, while we savor this kindheartedness we’ve found.

We can follow the river where the peaceful waters flow –
We’ll walk the banks together and let the river lead us home.

God only knows how far this goes, and where it all flows…
Where it all flows, God only knows. Where will it go?

Come the morning, may the road rise up to meet us as we go our separate ways.
May the wind be at your back and may Gods’ light shine down upon your face.

Let’s follow the river where the peaceful waters flow –
We’ll walk the banks together and let the river lead us home.

Yes, we’ll walk the banks together
While the river leads us home.
